EVIL INTENT--JOB 15:14-16

EVIL INTENT
JOB 15:14-16
Job 14:4, Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

Introduction:

Job asked some pretty interesting questions and he had the right answers as well. In fact Job’s wisdom in regard to spiritual things was very good. Looking at these verses let us consider what Job has said and build upon these truths.

I. MAN IS “A TRANSGRESSOR FROM THE WOMB”

Isaiah 48:8, “Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.”

A. Man is actually SPIRITUALLY INSENSITIVE,

1. He DOES NOT HEED God’s admonitions, Isaiah 42:20, “Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.”

2. His IMAGINATION is not on Godly things, Genesis 6:5, “And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

3. Even after God had destroyed this world by the flood He admitted man had NOT CHANGED, Genesis 8:21, “And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.”

B. David said that he was shaped in INIQUITY, Psalm 51:5, “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.”

1. David was born a sinner, Psalm 58:3, “The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.”

2. All men are sinners from birth, Romans 5:12, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

II. GOD REMEMBERS THAT MAN IS CORRUPT AND OF SINFUL FLESH

Psalm 78:39, “For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.”

A. Israel turned to the Lord when he punished them for their sins, but NOT with a TRUE HEART, Psalm 78:38-39, “But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. 39- For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.”

1. It is interesting that this same thing happened on 9/11 here in the USA, 1 Kings 21:29, “Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.”

2. “God bless America” is on the door, but the house is empty, Matthew 12:43-45, “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44- Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45- Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.”

B. Man FORGETS SOON how God has blessed him and REBELS against the Lord, Psalm 78:40-42, “How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! 41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. 42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.”

1. Man TURNS BACK from the Lord, Acts 7:39, “To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,”

2. He GRIEVES God with his bad conduct, Hebrews 3:15-17, “While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. 16- For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17- But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?”

III. GOD’S PLAN TO REMEDY MAN’S PROBLEM

A. By the foolishness of preaching, 1 Corinthians 1:18,  the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

1. The message of the Cross cuts to the heart of self-centeredness, Job 22:29, “When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.”

2. That message reaches man spiritual need of salvation with the power of God, Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

3. That spiritual need is met and seal by the power of God when a person believes the Gospel, Ephesians 1:13, “In whom ye also trusted , after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”

CONCLUSION

Job knew the answers to some of the difficult questions of this life. Only God can take an ungodly sinner and make him a saint by faith in Jesus Christ. That is why religion will never get anyone into Heaven. Job was trusting in his Savior for that, Job 19:25-26, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 26- And though after my skin worms destroy this body , yet in my flesh shall I see God:”
